2022 Annual Sports Summit

Starting March 25, CoHST is hosting the third annual Sports Summit.

Schedule of Events:

March 25 – Re-Imaging Youth Sports

CoHST through its Cornerstone Initiative, welcomes NHL Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine and Chris Price, CEO of LIFE Sports and President of Xara Soccer, with other special guests to discuss re-imagining 21st-century youth sports.

March 26 – Community Youth Hot Shot event hosted by SMA

March 27 – Women in Sports Day

During the day students will hear from Ellen Ferris, Senior Associate Commissioner for Governance and Compliance for the American Athletic Conference, and Sue Petronsky, Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator, discuss their career path and success.

Later in the day, students will travel to the Key Bank Center in downtown Buffalo for the Women in Sports Panel hosted by Niagara University, Buffalo Bills, and Buffalo Sabres, followed by the Sabres 7 pm game against the Canadians.

March 28 – The Other Side of College Sports

Derek Puff, Director of Recreation, Intramurals and Club Sports at Niagara University, Margot Hickey, Coordinator of Intramurals, Recreation, and Club Sports at Saint Bonaventure University, and Andre Julien, Senior Associate Athletic Director, Recreation, Wellness and Club Sports at George Washington University, will discuss their roles in providing health and wellness to all college students.

PSE & Legends – Latest Developments New Football Stadiums

Students will hear the role corporate partnerships play in stadium development.

March 29 – Hot Topics in College Sports

Matt Banker, former associate athletic director at the University of Louisville and assistant commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference, discusses the current hot topics surrounding college sports.

March 30 – Community-Based Organization

Community-based organizations are the main providers in the youth sports landscape. Willie Hutch Jones, member of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame and Founder, and CEO of Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Program shares his journey and passion for providing quality youth sports programming in Buffalo. The YMCA Buffalo Niagara will discuss the daily operation and programming the YMCA provides to the city of Buffalo and Niagara Falls.

March 31 – PSE Sales and Ticketing Symposium

9:30 am to 1:30 pm in Glynn Hall

Account Managers and Ticket Staff for the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Rochester Amerks join us to present the sales side of the professional sports world.

April 1 – 2nd Annual SMA Dinner

NU’s Sport Management Association hosts its own March Madness Basketball Tournament Watch Party.
