- If you have not yet graduated and/or your degree has not been conferred, please send your “in progress” official transcript. An official transcript will still be required once your degree is conferred.
- Niagara University students and/or alumni: please select “yes” when asked on your graduate application if you are a current or former NU student. This will notify your college/department to pull your Niagara University transcript internally, and free of cost. To ensure this happens in a timely manner, please complete this form to contact us directly to notify us to upload your transcript to your application.

- Two-page, double-spaced, typewritten statement discussing your academic and/or research background, your career goals, your personal philosophy related to your area of study, and how Niagara University’s graduate program will prepare you to meet your career and educational objectives. Please include your name, program of interest, and anticipated entry term in the header of the document.

Graduate Admissions Testing Requirements
Initial Teacher Education applicants are required to take one of the following tests listed below, or show proof of previous test results taken within the last six years.
Testing options
- ACCUPLACER – Recommended option. The ACCUPLACER is a remotely proctored exam that can be taken on your home computer. The exam is very test-taker friendly, and includes questions related to basic skills including arithmetic, reading, and writing. All sections are multiple-choice and untimed, and individuals are able to schedule the exam 24/7 with the remote proctoring service. The proctoring fee for the test is $25 USD. The Graduate Education Office will provide a voucher for the exam once the application is submitted.

A Graduate Admissions Test is NOT required for individuals with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Those with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 will be required to take one of the following tests listed under Initial Teacher Education or show proof of previous test results taken within the last six years.

Additional Requirements
- Candidates applying to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program must participate in an interview that will be scheduled after a preliminary review of the application materials.
- Applicants with a GPA of less than 3.0/B may be required to attend an interview designed to examine the student’s career goals, personal readiness for his/her program, multicultural sensitivity and awareness, personal dispositions and decision-making skills, and/or provide a writing sample.
- A degree evaluation by World Education Services or a Spantran for application is required for applicants who have obtained a degree outside of the United States or Canada. Please select the comprehensive course-by-course report. The foreign credential must be from an accredited and recognized institution of higher education, and be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the United States.
- For individuals whose native language is not English, a language proficiency examination is required. Niagara waives this examination requirement for students scoring 600+ on the GRE.
- Ph.D. applicants will be required to submit additional materials. For details, visit PhD Application.
