Dr. Anna McNab

Biography


Dr. Anna McNab joined the Niagara University faculty in August 2009 after receiving her Ph.D. from Washington State University. Her dissertation research examined the use of color-coding and location ordering in customer support and emergency response systems designed to support faster information selection. She also holds an M.B.A. and undergraduate degree in business administration, double-majoring in management information systems and operations management, both from Washington State University. Dr. McNab was awarded tenure and is currently an Associate Professor of Management at NU. Dr. McNab is also the founder of her small business – TATRA creative.

Focus of Teaching


Dr. Anna McNab has taught several courses and continues to develop new courses regularly.

Her current teaching primarily focuses on

  • MGT 651 – Strategic MIS, a course required for the MBA degree
  • MGT 672 – Creative Problem Solving, a course required for the strategic management concentration for the MBA.
  • MGT 308 – E-Commerce Essentials on a regular basis to Management undergraduates.

Current Research


Her research interests include human-computer interactions in information retrieval context, user acceptance of information systems, motivations for joining online communities and examination of methods used in IS research.

Dr. McNab’s current research interests also look at Title IX related issues in university athletics as well as gender and gender norms-related issues in organizations.

Current Involvement


Dr. McNab has served on many NU committees over the years including the University Planning Council and the Academic Senate and is currently serving on the Promotion and Tenure Committee. She is also serving on the QAAC committee and is the Freshman Retreat coordinator for the Holzschuh College of Business Administration. 

Dr. McNab is an active member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and its special interest group on human-computer interaction (SIG HCI). She is currently serving as a secretary & treasurer for SIG HCI and has also been involved as a co-chair for several years for an HCI mini-track at the Americas Conference on Information Systems. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
