Biography
Dr. Robert N. St Hilaire earned his doctorate at Harvard Divinity School in July 2008. His dissertation was on the relationship between nature and grace in the thought the early twentieth-century French Thomist Pierre Rousselot.
Dr. St. Hilaire joined the Department of Religious Studies at Niagara University in the fall of 2008. He teaches courses on the history of Christianity, contemporary Catholic theology, and theology and culture. He currently resides in Lewiston, New York.
Current Research
Dr. St. Hilaire’s research interests include the thought of Thomas Aquinas and twentieth-century Thomism, especially early Transcendental Thomism and la nouvelle théologie. His recent work has examined in particular Aquinas’s contemplative theology and his medieval worldview (articles forthcoming in The Heythrop Journal and Logos: A Journal of Catholic Thought and Culture respectively). Dr. St. Hilaire has also sought to explore the usefulness of Aquinas’s theology in the treatment of mental health disorders.
