Family Weekend


Family Weekend is held typically every September and includes a wide variety of on-campus and local community events for students and their families! 

Look for information on Family Weekend 2018 during the summer. Look below for the 2017 schedule of events to give you an idea of our events!

Enjoy activities as a family both on campus and in the community as we celebrate everything that is Niagara University!

Friday, September 22

  • Experience Niagara - 6 - 8 p.m. - Gallagher Center, lower level

    Enjoy a casual and interactive reception with other students and families as we highlight some of NU student musical talent and showcase some recent study abroad and service trips. A wine and beer tasting featuring local wineries and breweries, while sampling seasonal fall foods and desserts. There will also some interactive stations for families to create personalized keepsakes of the weekend.

  • Family Feud Gameshow - 8:15 p.m. - Dunleavy Hall, room 127

    Following Experience Niagara, join in the Niagara version of this iconic game show! Engage with other families to test your knowledge to win cash prizes!

  • Late Nite Niagara - Indoor Laser Tag - 9:30 p.m.-12 a.m. - Kiernan Recreation Center

    The largest inflatable laser tag arena comes to Niagara! The best gaming technology, along with over 1,000 square feet of space, come together for a night full of fun in this amazing Star Wars-like atmosphere! Fun for all ages!

Saturday, September 23

  • Brunch - 10 a.m.-12 p.m. - Dining Commons

    Enjoy brunch with your student in the newly renovated Dining Commons. The enhanced facility features presentation-style cooking, a variety of seating options, bold colors and design elements that create an inviting environment for NU students to gather.

  • 31st Annual Wildlife Festival - 10 a.m.-5 p.m. - New York Power Authority

    Located directly adjacent to Niagara's campus, the New York Power Authority sponsors its annual Wildlife Festival. Get ready for some interactive family fun featuring a variety of hands-on family-themed activities, entertainment and food vendors as well as close-up and personal encounters with birds of pretty, reptiles, monkeys and other animals. Free admission.

  • 34th Annual Harvest Festival & Craft Show - 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. - Village of Lewiston

    The Harvest Festival and Craft Show in Lewiston, N.Y., is only about four miles north of campus and features more than 100 of the finest craft artists. Enjoy continuous entertainment and samplings of wine and culinary delights. Free admission.

  • Women's Volleyball vs. Marist - 1 p.m. - Gallagher Center, Upper Level

    Get up to the Gallagher Center gym to cheer on our women's volleyball team as they take on MAAC rival Marist College. Free admission!

  • Discover Niagara Shuttle - 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. - Pick Up in St. Vincent's Traffic Circle

    Simply hop on and hop off at your leisure to check out the designated stops at all the best places to see and experience from Niagara Falls to Old Fort Niagara in historic Youngstown, NY. Find out more information about the schedule and tourist destinations at There is no charge to ride the shuttle.

  • Casino Night - 6:30 p.m. Registration - Kiernan Recreation Center

    Fun casino games and entertainment for all ages! Enjoy games of chance and slot machines from 7-9 p.m. The more you win, the more chances you will earn for the basket raffle held at the end of the evening! For entertainment purposes only, no cash exchanged. Along with the games, enjoy musician and NU alumnus Zak Ward, food and a cash bar.

Sunday, September 24

  • Eucharistic Liturgy - 11 a.m. - Alumni Chapel

    Put a cap on the weekend by celebrating Mass with us in Alumni Chapel. Families of all faiths are welcome!
