**Currently, we are unable to host birthday party rentals. We will re-examine the feasibility of offering birthday rentals throughout the fall semester and will update this page if and when we begin hosting birthday parties again.**
Birthday Parties
The KC has become the spot for birthday parties and other celebratory activities. The KC can host parties for all ages. A fun-filled party costs just $100 for the first hour and $90 for each additional hour. Our facility will surely provide you and your child with one of the best parties ever! At the KC, kids can enjoy swimming, basketball, a diving board, Frisbee, soccer, dodgeball and other great games. Also, you have access to a private room reserved for opening gifts, cake, pizza and refreshments!
Summary of Terms of Participation
Rentals can only be made during our academic year. No parties will be scheduled during summer, winter or spring recess periods. Parties can check in 15 minutes before the start of the party. Refreshments and food are the responsibility of the patrons. The Kiernan Center does not provide food or refreshments. Reservations can be personalized to meet your requests. Parties must provide supervision in changing areas. Credit, cash or check are accepted for payment. Tax is included. If an additional lifeguard is needed, a $20-per-hour fee will be applied.

Facility Availability for Youth Group/Community Organizations
The Kiernan Center is available to be used by youth groups or community organizations. The center has hosted many different types of activities. Since its opening, the KC has hosted sports camps, picnics, the World University Games, birthday parties, swim meets and more. The following facilities and fields are available for rental: A six-lane swimming pool with a one-meter diving board, four basketball courts, volleyball courts, racquetball courts, a free weight room, fitness facility, universal strength and cardiovascular area, aerobic/dance area, 1/12 mile indoor track, locker rooms with a dry sauna, classroom space, lounge area for parties or receptions, tennis courts, a one wall handball court, outdoor recreation and athletic fields.
Fee Requirements
The balance for the final rental and personal charges will typically be due two weeks after reserving the party unless other arrangements have been made and approved by the director. Events late in starting or ending will be subject to additional charges. In the event of a cancellation, fees are refundable minus a $50 cancellation fee.
Rental Fees for Non-University Organizations (Excluding Birthday Parties)
Rental fees for the Kiernan Center for non-university organizations begin at $30 per hour. Rates are adjusted for rentals depending on staffing requirements, specific facility requests, etc.
About the Fees
Fees charged include the following: event monitoring and/or supervision, energy cost, normal equipment usage, facility recovery and depreciation. In addition to the rental charges, the following charges will be assessed on an individual event basis: setup, breakdown, cleaning, public safety, special equipment usage and special staffing needs. A damage fee will be assessed if necessary. Groups with more than 20 people that reserve the pool will subject to an additional staffing charge for two lifeguards. For scheduling and staffing purposes, groups must adhere to the concluding time outlined in a contract. There will be a 15-minute grace period at the conclusion of your contracted facility rental to clear the facility. Any additional time will be billed at the rate of $25 per quarter hour and, if being used, $10 per quarter hour per lifeguard.
Rate Adjustments
A reduction in rental charges is only applicable to any group that qualifies in one of the following categories:
- Events running longer than four hours in one day
- A recognized charity fund-raising event
- Federal/state/regional educational organizations whose prime object is to improve the quality of life of its participants
Waiver and Release
For liability purposes, you will be asked to sign a waiver and release form. The waiver and release form will accompany the initial contract and should be signed, dated and returned with the initial security deposit.
