Kiernan Rec Center

UPDATE - 2/22/22

As most people are aware, the Kiernan Recreation Center is in the middle of a very exciting expansion and renovation project. This project will greatly enhance the recreational and athletic experience for all of our students and staff.

Construction often comes with unforeseen impacts and this project is no different. To ensure that the renovation and expansion will be complete for the start of the Fall 2022 semester, the very difficult decision has been made to close the Kiernan Center beginning March 12, 2022 and continuing until project completion in August. This complete closure of the facility is necessary to ensure necessary time for all of the work to be completed so that we can open the new and improved facility for the start of the next academic year.

One impact of the closure is the loss of a main fitness and exercise space on campus. To help minimize this impact, we have partnered with Crunch Fitness in Niagara Falls to offer memberships to any interested students at no cost to you for the time period of March 12, 2022-May 12, 2022. Anyone interested in taking advantage of this membership opportunity will need to sign-up during an open enrollment period at Crunch Fitness from March 1 – March 9. To register for this membership please follow the steps below:

During the open enrollment period, email the information listed below to

  • Full Name

  • Date of Birth

  • Street Address

  • Email Address

Crunch will confirm your membership after receipt of the email and you will be able to get your key tag upon your first visit as well as a tour of the facility if you would like.

Crunch Fitness is located at 2429 Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY

In addition, we will be offering the opportunity for students to use the Dwyer Arena Athletics weight room Monday through Friday from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. This area is excellent for weight lifting and strength training, but does not offer any cardio pieces such as treadmills or ellipticals.

The Kiernan Center will continue to support all of our club sport teams as they continue in competitions throughout the semester. Intramural sports and recreational programming will be offered outdoors and in alternate locations. All of our intramural sport programs can be viewed at Follow our Instagram page as well to receive continuous updates on programming.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate these complexities in the final phases of construction on a project that will ultimately provide a state-of-the-art recreation facility on our campus. If anyone has any questions please contact the Director of Campus Recreation, Derek Puff via email at
