What We Do
The Holzschuh College of Business Administration Center for Supply Chain Excellence is dedicated to promoting regional knowledge and development in supply chain related fields, such as logistics, transportation, procurement, and global trade.
The center is formed as a collaborative relationship between businesses, the university and the Holzschuh College of Business. The center is led by faculty and staff who are supply chain experts and is supported by a diverse advisory board of prominent members from the business community.
The Holzschuh College of Business Administration Center for Supply Chain Excellence hosts semi-annual supply chain and business updates, provides a yearly 36 hr intensive course in supply chain concepts , and other activities supporting students and businesses. Supply Chain Credential Program – January 2025
Keeping up-to-date on changing supply chain dynamics is critical and we at Niagara University understand that it must be affordable and fit into your regular work-week responsibilities. Therefore, we are announcing our new certificate program format with a Three Day, Tuesday to Thursday Core Courses taught by NU faculty and working professionals. All courses are in-person and to be held on the NU Campus.

Monday, January 13, 2025: Supply Chain Management Fundamentals – $199
Topic: Overview of SCM and Operations, Customer service and efficiency metrics, trends and issues in SCM, key factors for success as a manager in SCM.
FREE for individuals who attend the Tuesday to Thursday Core
Optional for experienced supply chain managers who take a basic review and quiz on-line; they will have this day waived. This first day is recommended for those new to supply chain management.

Tuesday, January 14, 2025: Inventory and Warehousing – $299
Topic: Inventory Basics and Metrics: Carrying costs, stock outs, cycle and safety stock, fill rate, turnover, cycle counting. Inventory Decision Tools: When to Order? How much to order? How much safety stock? PAR levels. Warehouse Management and 3PL services: Metrics, Safety, Processes, Labor Issues, automation.

Wednesday, January 15, 2025: Purchasing & Supplier Management – $299
Topic: The keys to good purchasing and supplier management are good processes, good relationships with suppliers, ethics, and understanding power and negotiation. Additionally, we will provide an update on sourcing from China and other international sources as the new presidential term nears.

Thursday, January 16, 2025: Transportation and Freight Management – $299
Topic: Overview of transportation modes and basics of freight management. What shippers need to know about carriers – basic economics and management. Understanding LTL, Parcel Services, Dimensional Weight, special services, managing carriers, Truckload and 3PL, spot and contract rates; driver CDLs. Emerging technologies in trucking.
