Various scholarship opportunities are available to tourism and hospitality students. They are based on need, academic achievement, and career aspirations. Some of these include: University sponsored scholarships, Statler Foundation, National Tour Foundation, American Society of Travel Agents, National Restaurant Educational Association, New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association, and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation.
The Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) awards two scholarships annually. The Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who are preparing for a career in Destination Management. Up to two (2) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2500 USD each.
What is a DMC?
A Destination Management Company (DMC) is a professional services company located in its destination and specializes in local expertise and resources. The DMC is a strategic partner to provide creative local experiences in event management, tours/activities, transportation, entertainment, and program logistics. Applicants must include:
- A resume
- A letter of recommendation from either a professor or a professional in the meetings industry.
(The letter, in English, should verify their commitment and ability to complete the educational program, experience in the event management industry, whether volunteer or paid, and aptitude to deal with the demands of the Destination Management profession.)
- An essay, in English, of at least 250 words that explains these 5 topics:
- their interest in the Destination Management / Event Management Industry
- share the focus of their studies and goals
- provide details of their volunteer and extra-curricular activities
- share how receiving this scholarship will help them achieve their stated goals
- share how they think the COVID-19 pandemic will affect the event industry in the future
Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a committee of Destination Management professionals during the month of November. The scholarships will be announced in December and again at the ADMEI Annual Conference which will be held in Boston in February 2022. Scholarship recipients need not be present to accept their award, however, if they choose to participate in annual conference, they will receive complimentary registration, hotel accommodations, and airfare assistance to and from the event.

Losing a loved one at a young age can be very difficult, and it can have a profound influence on our future lives. Perfect Memorials, which has been providing unique and affordable memorial products to families since 2001, wants to help students who have experienced a personal loss take the next step in their lives. The Perfect Memorials “Living With Loss” scholarship will award at least one $1,000 scholarship to college students planning to enroll in an accredited college program during the 2021 – 2022 academic year.

The Foundation, founded by a group of hoteliers in 1953, is the charitable fundraising and endowed fund-management subsidiary of American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). It is also the primary source of financial support for lodging industry-related research and educational opportunities for students and educational institutions focused on hospitality industry careers. Its core mission is to help people build careers that improve their lives, and strengthen the industry. In an effort to provide the necessary resources to address important issues affecting the industry, the Foundation has expanded its mission into areas such as workforce development and technology advancement.
Who – Students expecting to enroll in the next 12 months or are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning.
What - The Crown & Caliber Scholarship will award a $2,500 scholarship to a student who submits the best essay demonstrating our core values and the impact they have had on their community.
When – Submission deadlines are May 31, 2021 and the winner will be notified August 1, 2021

This Fund was established in 2018 by the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) Alumni Association for the purpose of providing direct, need-based financial support to students enrolled in the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Scholarships will be awarded as-needed provided funds are available.
Disbursements from this fund will be made to students of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management who require immediate financial support in order to continue their Niagara University education. Recipients must be juniors or seniors who have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA and who are at risk of not graduating due to financial need.
LionsDeal is offering a bi-annual scholarship to students enrolled in a U.S or Canadian college/university who are pursuing careers in the food service and hospitality industry in addition to nutrition, business management and marketing. This scholarship requires an essay submission, and the winning applicants will receive $1,200 USD each towards their costs of education. The deadline for receiving scholarship submitted applications will occur bi-annually, on July 15th for the July 31st scholarship and on January 15th for the January 31st scholarship. The WebstaurantStore Biannual Culinary & Hospitality Scholarship has been awarded since 2015. Twice a year, we award a one-time grant to students currently enrolled in or planning to attend a culinary arts or hospitality management program.
Deadlines for each semester are December 1st and June 15th annually.
We've set up this scholarship in order to support the next generation of innovative chefs and restaurant managers, all of whom are such a critical part of WebstaurantStore's success. The scholarship is open to all students who are currently enrolled in culinary or hospitality programs, as well as high school seniors, GED students, and non-traditional learning students who plan to enroll in similar programs at the start of the next year.
