Scholarships

Various scholarship opportunities are available to tourism and hospitality students. They are based on need, academic achievement, and career aspirations. Some of these include: University sponsored scholarships, Statler Foundation, National Tour Foundation, American Society of Travel Agents, National Restaurant Educational Association, New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association, and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation.

  • Grilla Grills National Culinary Scholarship

    Grilla Grills is proud to offer a $500 scholarship to an aspiring culinary student with our Grilla Grills National Culinary Education Scholarship to assist them in furthering their culinary education.

    How to Enter

    To be eligible for the scholarship you will need to fill out the required fields in our submission form (see below). Winner will be based on our staff’s determination of the candidate with the most compelling answers.

    Entries must be received by March 29, 2019 and the winner will be notified by April 12, 2019. Grilla Grills will present the winner with a check made out to the school at which they are enrolled.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited culinary arts program in the United States for the 2019 school year. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents.

  • ADMEI Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship

    The Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) awards two scholarships annually. The Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who are preparing for a career in Destination Management. One scholarship will be awarded to a North American student and the other to a global student studying hospitality management in North America.

    Please download the flyer for application instruction. Applicants must include a letter of recommendation from either a professor or a professional in the meetings industry. The letter, in English, should verify their commitment and ability to complete the educational program, experience in the event management industry, whether volunteer or paid, and aptitude to deal with the demands of the Destination Management profession.

    Students should also include a personal statement, in English, of at least 250 words that explains their interest in the Destination Management/Event Management Industry; their knowledge or experience in the Destination Management/Event Management field; how receiving this scholarship would help them achieve their goals; and, their thoughts and experiences with a recent event they have attended.   (These details are all included in the flyer.)

    Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a committee of Destination Management professionals beginning on 1 November. The scholarships will be awarded at the 2019 ADMEI Annual Meeting in Houston, TX USA 7 – 9 FEB.   Scholarship recipients need not be present to accept their award, however, if they choose to participate in the annual meeting, they will receive complimentary registration, hotel accommodations, and airfare assistance courtesy of ADMEI.

  • AHLEF Hospitality Scholarship Opportunities

    AHLEF offers a wide array of scholarship opportunities - available to incoming freshmen through graduate students. Some are earmarked specifically for current hotel employees and others for minorities. A few have minimum GPA requirements, while others are open to full or part-time students. All require enrollment in a hospitality management degree program.

    More than $1.3 million is budgeted in 2019 to award to a few hundred students. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $7,500, and unlike a loan, that money never needs to be paid back.

    Application deadline is February 15, 2019.

  • International Society of Travel & Tourism Educators (ISTTE) Scholarship

    The ISTTE Scholarship Committee will present two (2) $1000.00 awards to two (2) students affiliated with ISTTE member schools during the 2018-2019 academic year. The committee will award a $1000 scholarship in each of the following categories:

    • Graduate Student
    • Undergraduate Student (including High School Seniors, 2-Year and 4-Year College/University)

  • KaTom Restaurant Supply Culinary Arts and Hospitality Scholarship

    KaTom takes pride in equipping the next generation of foodservice professionals with what they need to succeed. We offer a $1,500 grant to qualified students in accredited culinary and hospitality programs to help pay for the cost of that education.

    Who can apply?

    Current or future culinary arts and hospitality students are encouraged to apply for the KaTom Culinary Arts and Hospitality Scholarship. These students include:

    • Any student currently enrolled in a culinary or hospitality program at an accredited post- secondary educational institution in the United States
    • High school seniors planning to pursue a degree in the culinary arts or hospitality field
    • Students working toward a GED
    • Adult learners enrolling in culinary or hospitality courses

    All applications are due by May 1, 2019.

  • LionsDeal - Restaurant and Kitchen Wholesale Scholarship

    LionsDeal is offering a bi-annual scholarship to students enrolled in a U.S or Canadian college/university who are pursuing careers in the food service and hospitality industry in addition to nutrition, business management and marketing. This scholarship requires an essay submission, and the winning applicants will receive $1,200 USD each towards their costs of education. The deadline for receiving scholarship submitted applications will occur bi-annually, on July 15th for the July 31st scholarship and on January 15th for the January 31st scholarshipAll of the application details and the essay question are outlined on our website here.

  • National Restaurant Educational Association

    This scholarship is for undergraduate students pursuing a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor degree in a restaurant and/or foodservice-related program.

    Undergraduate scholarship applications are accepted between January 15 and April 1 each year.

  • NEWH New York Chapter Scholarships

    Founded in 1984, NEWH is an international non-profit organization, which provides access to the hospitality industry through scholarships, mentorship, and education. NEWH scholarship alumni boast careers in hospitality design, development, hotel management, operations, and culinary, around the world.

  • New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association

    The Foundation offers scholarships to full-time and part-time students majoring in a hospitality related field. These include both college students and high school students, who are either working at member properties, or are dependents of employees working at member properties.

  • New York State Restaurant Association Educational Foundation

    The New York State Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NYSRAEF) – WNY Chapter is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students who demonstrate a keen interest in and commitment to the hospitality industry. Applicants must be residents of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, or Wyoming County and must have been admitted to a post-secondary school where they will major in a hospitality-related field. The completed and signed application with transcripts must be mailed and postmarked by March 15, 2018.

  • Scottsdale Recovery Center's Humanitarian Scholarship Program

    The Scottsdale Recovery Center Humanitarian Scholarship Program will provide $1500 to a student for use in undergraduate or graduate education programs.

    Students applying for this scholarship must be enrolling in a university of higher learning next year or currently enrolled at a collegiate institution in a program that culminates with a bachelor or graduate degree. All scholarship applicants must be age 18 or over and currently enrolled as a high school senior through college graduate level student.

    All scholarship applicants must compose a 500-word essay, double-spaced, revealing how these funds will help in your personal quest for higher learning. Please cite personal experiences that illustrate examples of humanitarian or philanthropic efforts in social settings for community service or health care. Include ideologies or people who have influenced your decision to pursue education and vocational aspirations in the health or human services field.

    Deadline to apply for Fall 2019 Humanitarian Scholarship is September 15, 2019.

  • Tourism Cares

    Tourism Cares offers up to 29 merit-based academic scholarships, with awards ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 each and totaling up to $62,000. Eligibility requirements include undergraduate students pursuing degrees in travel, tourism or hospitality in two or four year programs, as well as graduate students with a concentration in travel or tourism. Eligible students must be pursuing degrees at colleges and universities located in the United States or Canada. Some awards also have residency or citizenship requirements.

    Students receiving Tourism Cares scholarships will be invited to participate in the Tourism Cares Mentoring Program at the NTA Travel Exchange, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in November, 2018, where students will be paired with industry professionals to learn hands-on sales and marketing tactics, build their professional networks, and learn about career opportunities.

  • WebstaurantStore Biannual Culinary & Hospitality Scholarship

    The WebstaurantStore Biannual Culinary & Hospitality Scholarship has been awarded since 2015. Twice a year, we award a one-time grant to students currently enrolled in or planning to attend a culinary arts or hospitality management program.

    Deadlines for each semester are December 1st and June 15th annually.

    We've set up this scholarship in order to support the next generation of innovative chefs and restaurant managers, all of whom are such a critical part of WebstaurantStore's success. The scholarship is open to all students who are currently enrolled in culinary or hospitality programs, as well as high school seniors, GED students, and non-traditional learning students who plan to enroll in similar programs at the start of the next year.
