What we do

The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The office is located in the Campus Safety Building, across from Dwyer Arena. To contact Campus Safety, call 716.286.8111 or Ext. 8111 from an on-campus phone (calls may be recorded). The department is primarily responsible for enforcement of university policies which ensure good order on the campus, as well as regulating traffic and parking control. The department also provides general information and safety assistance to the campus community.

NU strives for a safe and secure campus environment. The university disseminates safety and security information through programs such as New Student Orientation, Freshman Symposium, residence hall staff and student leadership training, and through various campus educational and social programs.

Services Provided

Campus Safety personnel perform mobile unit safety patrols, building security rounds, and residence hall compliance patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards.

Parking

The regulations herein are intended to promote order and safety in the use of vehicles on campus grounds. The campus speed limit is 20 mph. Vehicles must be operated in accordance with all New York state vehicle and traffic laws. Parking and traffic laws and regulations are enforced by the Lewiston Police, NY State Police, NU Campus Safety and other law enforcement agencies. The Campus Safety office is open 24 hours daily, and can be reached at Ext. 8111. The Campus Safety Office is located directly across from Dwyer Arena at the intersection of University Drive and Monteagle Tr.
