  • Must have an earned Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing
  • Current licensed registered nurse in NYS or Ontario, Canada
  • Letters of recommendation: 2

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) provide comprehensive care to individuals with mental health conditions. This online program prepares graduates for the PMHNP scope of practice, including competence with psychotherapy, medication management for psychiatric and substance use disorders, physical and psychosocial assessment, emergency psychiatric intervention, and evaluation of treatment outcomes. Synchronous and asynchronous coursework allows registered nurses to work while advancing their career.

Graduates are eligible to take the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
