Biography


Dr. Jamie Carr is Professor of English and also serves as the academic Associate Provost. Before being appointed Associate Provost, she was Chair of the English department and served on a number of university committees, including the Academic Senate, the University Resource and Planning Council, and the executive committee of the faculty union.

In her current role in the office for academic affairs, she provides support in matters related to faculty affairs, academic programs, and scholarly initiatives within the institution.

Focus of Teaching


  • Dr. Carr teaches courses in modern and contemporary literature. She is particularly interested in literature between the world wars.

  • She regularly teaches the general education course, ENG 110: Literary Perspectives, focusing on topics of perennial interest, such as the history of book banning.
