What Niagara University Means to Me

Morgan Bicknell is a graduate assistant for campus programming in the Campus Activities Office. She is also a current student in the MBA program at Niagara University with a concentration in marketing.

My Niagara experience has been one that has shaped me into the person that I am today. Freshman year, I was young, inexperienced and just looking to find my place in the world. Thinking back to how I was back then, I can honestly say that Niagara University has helped me in ways that I cannot explain.

Niagara has given me the opportunity to take some risks and try something new. During my freshman year, I started the club softball team and worked with the National Club Softball Association to get the team up and running. During my sophomore year, I joined the women’s rugby team with no prior experience whatsoever. Taking that risk is what led me to becoming captain of the team my senior year and meeting some of my best friends.

I've also worked in the Admissions Office throughout my Niagara experience, taking part in Open House events, being a campus tour guide and traveling with admissions to welcome and greet incoming students to campus. I would never have had the strength to do any of this if it wasn’t for Niagara.

Professionally, Niagara has taught me to step out of my comfort zone and see what the world has to offer. All my life I have been searching to find my true calling in the world and Niagara has led me in the right direction. I have had an internship on campus working closely with the campus event planner, and the summer before graduation I had the opportunity to go to New York City to intern at an event planning company. The experiences that I had have made me who I am today, whether it is creating a club sport team, leading my rugby team to victory, working for the admissions office, or taking on internships and gaining experience in the real world. I could not have done any of that without the help of Niagara University.

The experiences that I had during my undergraduate degree at Niagara are the reasons why I decided to continued my studies here for graduate school. I am now going for my master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing and I even have a graduate assistantship, working for the school in the Campus Activities Office. My past experiences at Niagara have prepared me and have me looking forward to what the future has in store for me and it starts here at Niagara University with a master’s degree.
