Sococo (Classroom Anywhere) Information

If your instructor is using Sococo (Classroom Anywhere) for meeting online, please review this FAQ to get started.

Do I have an account with Sococo?

If your instructor is using Sococo, they will request that their students get invited to the system. You will receive an invite with instructions in your NU e-mail. You must complete the process to get signed up.

Do I need to download and install anything?

No. You can either use the web-based app (only available through Google Chrome) - Or you can download the desktop app -

It says my username or password is invalid.

When logging in you need to make sure that you are using your student number email not the student email with your name in it.  If you do not know your student number, your professor can tell you it or you may put in a service request with IT.

I am getting an error message on my mac saying it can’t download.

You need to make sure that you have the most up to date operating system.  If you are not sure what system you have it can be found under system preferences.  To get the most up to date OS you go to the app store and search operating systems.  As of 2016 the most up  to date system is El Capitan. 

I am on my work computer and I have everything downloaded but I still can’t hear anyone and my video just has a spinning circle.

Some schools and business have very strict firewall settings on their computers so it may be blocking what you need to do to participate.  To remove them you can talk to the IT department at your place of employment or try it on a personal computer, tablet or smartphone. 

I do not have access to a laptop right now will it work on my tablet/ipad, or smartphone?

Yes, it will! But you cannot use video or see if the professor is sharing anything.

Everything is downloaded correctly and I can log in and see people, but when I talk there is so much feedback.

You need to make sure that you are using headphones that have a microphone attached so that no background noise is picked up.  If you do not have a set of these headphones, you need to make sure that your talk button is off when you are not talking. 

I am in, and on my home computer but I still cannot see or hear anyone.

In the top right hand corner there is an options button.  Here is where you may need to choose a different microphone or camera to use.  You may also need to go into the control panel and look at the setting in your webcam or microphone.
