Academic Senate
Purpose
The Academic Senate (hereon referred to as Senate) is a forum empowered by the Board of Trustees to establish and modify Educational Policies of the university except those matters explicitly reserved to the Board of Trustees by the University Statutes, and those matters governed by or requiring the compliance with the obligations imposed by law.
Educational Policy shall be defined as a written statement which guides the actions of the University (Administration, Faculty, Students) in the following areas to the extent that such are not inconsistent with any obligations imposed by law:
- Academic Freedom
- Academic Standards
- Standards for Admission and Retention of Students
- Promotion and Facilitation of Academic and Instructional Research
- New Academic Programs
- Major Revision of Existing Academic Programs
- Revisions in the General Education Component
- Other Academic Concerns
