Current Research

My colleague, Dr. Tracy Galuski, and I are in the end stage of publishing a book,"Open Ended Art: Beyond the Basics," that will be published by Redleaf Press in 2018. The book is based on our experiences coaching and observing in early childhood settings. My most recent publications focus on teaching. My research interests include how early childhood educators make curriculum decisions and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Educational Background

B.S. in Consumer Economics from Cornell University, B.S. in Elementary Education from Medaille College, M.S. and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Buffalo.

Current Involvement

I am involved in various early childhood and education organizations including The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and National Association of Early Childhood Education Teacher Educators (NAECTE). I’ve been appointed to the NAEYC Audit Team for baccalaureate and graduate early childhood program recognition beginning January 2018. Audit Team members serve for a term of three years. I am on the Board of the NY AEYC and an accreditation reviewer at the national level. I am a reviewer for several publications and am the faculty advisor for the Niagara Quality Improvement Project that is working with Niagara County child care centers to improve the quality of care. I am also a credentialed early childhood trainer through NYSAEYC
