Dr. Culton joined the Sociology Department in 2006. He earned his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in 2006. His dissertation is titled "DIY Punk on Long Island: On the Development of Activist Identities."

Social Theory, Deviance, Youth and Music Subcultures, Sociology of Sport 

Current Research 

Using music to teach sociological theory; radical political movements; youth subcultures; pedagogical approaches in teaching white-collar crime
