How did you secure the opportunity?
I attended Career Expo in the spring and met with representatives from Greater Niagara. I also secured my part-time position at Michael Kors through an on-campus career event.
What did you do on a daily basis?
As a member services representative, I demonstrated excellent customer service and strong attention to detail when assisting account holders with daily transactions and account questions. I acted as a traveling teller by working in various branch operations throughout the region, answered questions regarding additional bank products and services including share accounts, draft accounts, certificate deposits, Christmas Club, VISA credit card and loans. I also performed opening and closing duties to include, but not limited to: vault opening/closing, drive-thru opening/closing, night deposits, ATM deposits, balancing cash drawers, checking debits/credits and setting security.
Most importantly, what did you learn?
I have learned to be patient. This has helped me to be able to assist customers as I best see fit in order to help them understand their accounts.
What advice do you have for future students?
Never be afraid to meet new people. Making genuine connections is the best way to explore new opportunities.
How did NU's Office of Career Services help you?
