Accelerated Second Degree Bachelor of Science (ASDBS)

Bachelor of Science

Overview of ASDBS Program

NU offers an accelerated nursing program for individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree in another field and are interested in a second career as a professional registered nurse.

The Accelerated Second Degree Bachelor of Science program is run cohort-style, in which a group of students advance through the curriculum together. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the Registered Nurse Licensing Examination (NCLEX).

  • 12-month full-time program
  • Student learning opportunities are classroom, lab, and clinical courses
  • Small class sizes to enhance student success

Students will complete 675 clinical hours in a variety of healthcare settings and 55 academic credits as they pursue the accelerated second-degree option over 12 months of study. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

The following prerequisite courses must be completed with a “C+” grade or higher:

  • Anatomy and Physiology I with lab
  • Anatomy and Physiology II with lab
