Internships, Research, and Other Opportunities
Students at NU have many opportunities to use their skills in internships and to perform research. Taking advantage of these opportunities allows students to:
- Gain valuable experience in how math can be applied outside a classroom setting.
- Improve their resume for post graduate jobs or graduate school.
- Further develop problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Have fun and make friends!
Below are some links and information regarding commonly used opportunities
- Many students have worked one-on-one with a faculty member on research projects, sometimes over the summer and sometimes during the school year. These projects often culminate in a student presenting a research poster at the Niagara University Undergraduate Research Conference. To learn more, the faculty members would be happy to speak with you!
- The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, allows students to work with a team of researchers, under faculty supervision, at various schools across the nation. These programs occur over the summer and generally pay stipends to participants. These programs are highly recommended for students considering graduate school. To learn more, see this link: REUs.
