Diep Nguyen MBA ’21 studying Global Business & Supply Chain Management from Vietnam secured an internship during the summer of 2020 with Chewy in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania as their operations intern. Upon graduation she hopes to find a job in the supply chain field in operations management.
How did you secure the opportunity?
I was looking for a summer internship back in March and found this opportunity online. After 3 rounds of interviews with HR and senior leaders in supply chain, I was selected as their intern at one of their Fulfillment Centers.
What did you do on a daily basis?
I was responsible for a project related to improving efficiency in the process of replenishment which aims to make sure products are re-filled in their locations as fast as possible before being picked up to be delivered to customers.
Most importantly, what did you learn?
I learned the very detailed processes of e-commerce supply chain. Seeing what really happened in the warehouse and how orders were made strengthened my supply chain knowledge. Most importantly, I learned the required knowledge and skills there are to have in order to be successful in the job that I previously didn't have.
What advice do you have for future students?
Internships are definitely a valuable experience to have while being in school since you gain valuable knowledge and hands on experience in the field that will be important and beneficial for your career.
