Internship Success - Rosina Food Products

Alison Marabella, a Marketing major from Cheektowaga, NY will graduate in May 2021. During her senior year of the fall semester 2020, Alison worked as the marketing intern at Rosina Food Products, Inc. Upon graduation, she plans on looking for a full-time marketing position.

How did you secure the opportunity?

I heard about the internship through one of my marketing professors. This professor had a connection at Rosina who was looking for a marketing intern.

What did you do on a daily basis?

I was tasked with managing Q4 digital and social campaigns from development, execution, and analytics. I was able to generate over 1 million impressions and grow the social following by 22%. I implemented ads within an allocated budget using Facebook Business Manager, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google Ad Words to target parameters based on campaign goals and targeted demographics. I developed relationships and partnerships with social influencers that fit within the Rosina brand identity. Lastly, I analyzed syndicated data including IRI to develop category review decks to understand goals and objectives for retailer’s reviews.

Most importantly, what did you learn?

It is important to gain real world experience because it helps you see beyond the textbook and classroom. I also learned that I really love marketing and I look forward to starting my career within this chosen field.

What advice do you have for future students?

Besides actively engaging in your classes, I would tell students to study something that they enjoy and that interests them. When you genuinely like what you study, you are willing to go after opportunities within your academics.

If you have worked with Career Services, how have they helped you?

Career Services helped me develop the first versions of my resume. They also helped troubleshoot issues with my LinkedIn account.
