After researching the districts coming for TRD (Teacher Recruitment Days), I became interested in Chesapeake Public Schools. I was offered three positions in CPS and chose a Spanish teacher position at Great Bridge Middle School. I taught for five years while sponsoring our Student Council Association, coaching varsity girls tennis at our feeder high school, Grassfield High School, and planning student trips to Spanish-speaking countries.

In my fifth year, I was chosen as Great Bridge Middle School's Teacher of the Year! I continued on and was chosen as the Chesapeake Public School's Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2012!

Now, I will be facing a new challenge as an assistant principal at Hickory High School.

I continually reflect on my experiences at Niagara (classes, student teaching placements, the tennis team, and NUSGA) as an incredible foundation for my educational philosophy and teaching techniques. Niagara University provided me with the opportunity to grow and attain the skills and courage I needed to move several states away and begin my career in making a difference. I proudly display my Niagara diploma in my new office!
