Reta S. Jabar

Reta Jabar is a current Freshman at Niagara University, double-majoring in Communications Studies and International Studies. She will minor in both Arabic and Spanish.

Her family came as refugees from Iraq in 1990 in order to escape the tyranny of Saddam Hussein and provide a better life for their children. Born in Buffalo, she grew up with a deep sense of culture from
her family and community.

Reta studied abroad in Jordan her junior year of high school. There, she witnessed a whole new way of life. As an Iraqi-American, she wishes to bring to Niagara University a greater sense of diversity, and to the world, understanding and tolerance of one another through journalism.
