Niagara University’s M.S. Ed. degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) requires a total of 37 graduate credit hours, including a supervised practicum and a culminating portfolio assessment (program-level assessment).

Humber College’s accredited TEFL program requires the completion of 12 courses. The articulation agreement allows the transfer of five courses (15 credits) toward the M.S. Ed. in TESOL. The remaining eight courses (22 credits) for the degree must be completed at Niagara University. It is expected that program completion will require an additional 16-24 months to complete the Master’s degree.

  • Candidates seeking New York State certification in TESOL must complete at least 12 credit hours of study in a language(s) other than English.
  • This articulation agreement for the program does not include the provisions that would be necessary (required) to be eligible for P-12 teaching certification in New York State.
