Bio
Dr. Melanie Mayberry earned her Ph.D. At the University at Buffalo in Biological Anthropology in 2017. Prior to her work in Anthropology, she completed her undergraduate work in Biology at Eastern Michigan University, and a masters at the University at Albany in Forensic Biology. She worked for years as a cancer researcher at various medical universities.
Current research:
She now primarily studies human biology and culture in historic America. Her dissertation focused on the Erie County Poorhouse Cemetery in Buffalo, and she assists in teaching a bi-annual summer archaeology field school at Old Fort Niagara with faculty from Buffalo State. Much of her current research focuses on disparities between human social groups and its evidence in human skeletal remains.
Teaching:
Her teaching focus at NU is in archaeology, cultural anthropology, and forensic anthropology.
