A training program designed to be adaptable to the needs of the recertifying basic EMT-D whose certification has not expired or the basic EMT whose certification has lapsed. Each student is required to complete a challenge exam, after which the student’s performance is reviewed and an individual needs program is developed. Upon successful completion of the course and a state practical skills examination, the student will be allowed to sit for the NYSDOH written certification examination. This course challenges as well as prepares the basic EMT to recertify. It presents a general overview of the Basic EMT Original curriculum while bringing the student up-to-date with recent NYS standards and protocols.
