Campus Crime Statistics

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, this information is distributed annually to all students and employees and offered to any person making an inquiry regarding university admission or employment. Statistics are specified for the three preceding calendar years, with terms defined according to the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System. The data reflects all reported incidents occurring on campus, in campus residences, non-campus properties, or public property adjoining the campus. Additionally, The Advisory Committee on Campus Safety or the Director of Campus Safety, will provide upon request all campus crime statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education.

To access these statistics on the U.S. Department of Education Web Site click: http://ope.ed.gov/security. To obtain a copy of the statistics, contact the Director of Campus Safety at (716) 286-8111.While campus counseling sessions are confidential, individuals are encouraged to report crimes in a timely manner to the proper authorities. Victims or those observing suspicious behavior are expected to immediately call Campus Safety (ext. 8111) or use the emergency blue-light telephones on the grounds. The Dean of Student Affairs or residence hall staff may be consulted prior to filing a report. Anonymous reports may be filed; refer to the Campus Guide to Safety and Security for details. Campus authorities reserve the right to summon the NYS Police, Niagara County Sheriff's Department, Lewiston Police, or other Law enforcement agency for assistance. Once law enforcement is involved, the university will defer its authority to the police and assist them in conducting investigations and follow-up. Campus Safety personnel perform mobile unit safety patrols, building security rounds, and residence hall compliance patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards.
