Niagara University's Underground Railroad Presentation on Harriet Tubman was featured on Channel 7 News!
The event sponsored by the History Department included a free public lecture and roundtable discusson on Underground Railroad history in Western New York.
Dr. Kate Clifford Larson, acclaimed author of Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero, spoke on Harriet Tubman and her importance to the Underground Railroad movement followed by a moderated roundtable discussion with other noted scholars and a public reception. The event also commemorated the recent establishment of the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Area Commission and the work of the North Star Advisory Committee.
The event was part of the University's ongoing efforts to work cooperatively with the City of Niagara Falls on economic development projects, and is sponsored by the NU History Department, the City of Niagara Falls, and Key Bank.
