An induction ceremony for the Niagara University President's Society was held in St. Vincent's Hall on Feb. 17, 2012.
A dozen high-achieving students were inducted into the Niagara University President’s Society during a ceremony held Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in the Statler Dining Room of St. Vincent’s Hall.
Following a welcome by Dr. Michael Barnwell, director of the Honors Program to which each of the students belongs, the assemblage heard remarks by the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., president of Niagara University, and Dr. Kenneth Culton, chair of NU’s sociology department.
Dr. Culton spoke about approaching all of life’s happenings as learning opportunities, which was how he dealt with sleeping in the New Orleans Superdome after his apartment was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. At that time, Dr. Culton had been in Louisiana for only two days.
Founded in 2000, the President’s Society recognizes Niagara University Honors Students for their scholarship, integrity, maturity and devotion to the Catholic and Vincentian traditions of the campus community.
Members of the President’s Society collaborate with the president at designated university functions to promote the teaching, learning, research, and service programs of Niagara.
Congratulations to the following students:
