Top Ten Reasons to Live on Campus

10. Academic Success

Research of college and university students across the nation shows that students who live on campus are more satisfied with their college experience, earn better grades and are more likely to graduate than their commuting peers.

9. Convenience

No commuting hassles! Stop wasting time fighting traffic and searching for parking spots before class. You can sleep in longer and, with gas prices projected to be $4 per gallon very soon, save a lot of money on gas.

8. Safety and Security

Safety and security are a priority on campus. Card access and cameras in the residence halls along with Campus Safety and Residence Life staff available 24 hours each day, seven days a week help you feel comfortable in your surroundings.

7. No Hidden Costs – It’s All Inclusive!

Not only are meals included if you live in the residence halls but so is laundry, Internet, cable, local telephone, common area cleaning (hallways, bathrooms), and 24 hour onsite security and residence staff.

6. Close to Everything

You are just a short walk away from everything – classes, the library, computer labs, activities, sporting events, recreational centers, study groups, professors…and ...the list goes on and on.

5. Support

College is a transitional time. Live with people going through the same experiences as you. And know that caring Residence Life staff living with you are always available for assistance, advice or just to talk.

4. Connection

There are so many ways to get involved and stay connected. From clubs and organizations to intramurals and club sports to student leadership positions to service/volunteer opportunities, we have something for everyone!

3. Independence

Living on your own and making key decisions for yourself is an important step in the maturing process. Learning to balance freedom and responsibility in a protected environment like a residence hall makes the post-college transition easier.

2. Fun!

Meet new people! Live new experiences! An endless array of social activities with your floormates, in your hall and all over campus make it easy. Just show up and enjoy! These are the things that lifelong friendships are made of!

1. The Total College Experience

Don’t just go to NU – be NU! This is a unique time in your life, where else can you experience new cultures, new friendships and live in a supportive community rich with diversity and ways of viewing the world? Residence hall living – it’s an experience unlike any other!
