NU's Supply Chain Center joins with NAPM-Buffalo to jointly administer the Monthly Purchasing Manager's Report.– Niagara University’s Logistics, Transportation, and Management Center has reached agreement with the National Association of Purchasing Management of Buffalo to publish the monthly Purchasing Manager’s Index beginning June 1.  The center will also change its name to the Center for Supply Chain Excellence.
Jack Ampuja, executive director of the center, said the joint venture is “an outstanding example of two organizations bringing unique strengths together. The end result should be a benefit for the entire business region.”
The Manufacturing ISM “Report On Business” and the PMI have earned immense recognition over the years from economists and forecasters in government and business because of the report's early and accurate reflection of the manufacturing sector of the economy and the PMI's close correlation with the entire economy.  NAPM-Buffalo has been issuing reports since 1962 and the origin of the Manufacturing ISM report can be traced as far back as the early 1920s.
William Ellis, chairman of the Business Survey Committee of NAPM-Buffalo, said, “This new relationship with Niagara University and the Center for Supply Chain Excellence will provide the opportunity to improve the survey through the use of the latest technologies and the augmentation of the survey staff with people that have an interest in the information. NAPM - Buffalo is looking forward to working with Niagara University’s Center for Supply Chain Excellence to achieve these goals.”
Established in 2000, the Center for Supply Chain Excellence is dedicated to promoting regional education in supply-chain business fields, especially logistics, transportation, and global trade.  A collaborative relationship between business firms, the university, and College of Business faculty and staff will guide the center’s growth, direction, and resources.
