Education That Makes a Difference

Student Information

Students registered as having a campus parking permit with campus safety are expected to provide their own transportation to and from their field experience placement.

You will be picked up in front of House 1 until further notice. Please make sure that you check the van that you are going to your placement to and in what van you are returning to school in, they may be different. And remember it is acceptable to have to wait 5-10 minutes for your ride you pick you up.

Message to Students

If you’re registered for a methods course next semester, you’ll be completing a teaching assistantship and need not submit a L&S application at this time. You’ll receive information regarding your TA during the first weeks of your methods course.

Students stating that they only have after school hours available (after 2 p.m.) must discuss their availability directly with Dr. Chandra Foote. Please contact her at Ext. 8549 or cjf@niagara.edu. Her office is located in Room 323D in the Academic Complex. Please contact her as soon as possible or there will be a delay in placing you. When you meet with her, bring your L&S application along. Submit your completed application to us after that meeting.

As we aim to strengthen the tie between course work and field experience, please be aware of the following changes. ALL students enrolled in EDU 236 will be placed within their extended certification area. This means that students pursuing Birth–Grade 6 certification will be placed in a Birth-Grade 2 setting while those students with a Grades 1-9 or 5-12 certification will be assigned a Grade 5-9 placement. Similarly, the goal is to have ALL students (regardless of certification) enrolled in EDU 239 placed with a special education teacher. Students arranging their own “private placement” must adhere to these course requirements.

Transportation is available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Students needing to leave NU before 8 a.m. or picked up at their placement site after 5 p.m. must provide their own transportation. As always, students with NU parking permits are expected to transport themselves.

Should you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at 716.286.8683 or lmaerten@niagara.edu.
