Bio

Dexter Davis is an Assistant Professor in the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Niagara University.  He teaches course in Sport Marketing, Facility Management, and Organizational Behavior, as well as introductory courses in Sport Management and Management and Leadership.  Professor Davis also serves as an adjunct professor at the United States Sports Academy, teaching Master’s and Doctoral classes in Sport Marketing Research, Facility Management, and Organizational Leadership.  Professor Davis has also provided sport education programs international for the Sport Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Sport in both Bahrain and Dubai, teaching classes in Sport Management, Facility Management and Human Resources Management to sport administrators from a broad spectrum of sport association throughout these countries.

Professor Davis has nearly 20 years of experience in the sport industry, serving as a YMCA program director, collegiate Athletic Director and soccer coach.  Prior to coming to Niagara, Professor Davis was the sport management program coordinator at Alfred State College, developing one of the foremost Associate Degree sport management programs in the United States.  While at Alfred, he was responsible for developing experiential learning opportunities for his students at Watkins Glen International Raceway, Cooperstown DreamsPark, and Roger Dean Stadium.

Since his arrival at Niagara, the sport management program has increased its experiential learning activities dramatically. Professor Davis has led student trips to the Sport Marketing Association’s annual conferences in Tempe, AZ, Denver, CO, and most recently in Pittsburgh, PA. Other student learning excursions have included trips to Super Bowl XLI in Miami, St. Louis Cardinal’s and Florida Marlin’s spring training in Jupiter, FL, and the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans. Professor Davis also actively engages students in numerous other projects, including the Niagara University Sport Management Conference and a research project examining the factors that influence fan recall of sponsorship signage in sport facilities.

Dr. Davis received a BS in Physical Education from Houghton College, a master’s degree in Sport Administration/Physical Education from Canisius College, and a doctoral degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy, the nation’s only “sport specific” institution of higher education. Professor Davis is an active member of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the Sport Marketing Association (SMA), as well as the Academy for Business Administration (ABA). Dr. Davis also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Niagara County Community College sport management program and is a founding member of the New York State Sport Management and Media Association.
