Son of the Sun
Son of the Sun makes their first appearance at Niagara University to open the 2010-2011 Live Music season. Formed in 2007 with two members living on opposite ends of the country – guitarist/keyboardist Joseph Stocker in New York and vocalist/guitarist Zak Ward in California – Son of the Sun initially experimented with their music by swapping files over the Internet, before compiling their first E.P., “Before the After,” in 2008. When Ward relocated to New York, the duo went on to add Jeremy Franklin (guitar), Steve Matthews (bass), and Brandon Delmont (drums). In June 2010, Son of the Sun released its first full-length album, “The Happy Loss.” Staying true to its roots in what is described as “melodically detailed rock,” Son of the Sun piles on euphonic layers of textured harmonies with an added garage psychedelia that defines its sound so well.
