Many career fields are open to Sociology majors, including social services, education, law enforcement, community development, non-profit agencies, and health care. There are a variety of occupations open to Sociology majors, such as sales, human resources, and market research. Sociology majors can work with adolescents or the elderly in a variety of settings. They can become trained to work as substance abuse counselors. They can pursue government jobs at local, state, and federal levels.
Students who graduate with a Sociology degree can obtain graduate education in several areas. Graduate programs in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Social Work, and related fields are a possibility. Law school is an option. Programs that offer graduate degrees in the field of Education, such as School Counseling, are also an option.
