Through the Center for Cross Cultural Studies, Niagara University provides students with a vibrant cultural experience in the historical city of Seville. In our semester, academic year, January term and summer sessions, we offer programs of academic excellence, all grounded in the cultural richness of Seville, and of Spain. The summer program offers intensive academics and a rich cultural experience with students living in Spanish homes.

Students seeking practical experience and Spanish language immersion should consider applying for a summer Practicum in Education in Seville.  The program is a seven-week experience tailored for students with an interest in Education and Spanish.  Participants will provide formal English instruction, as well as introduce aspects of US culture to Spanish students (aged 4-12) through arts and crafts, computers/technology, games, and theme weeks.  The following criteria must be fulfilled in order to be considered for this opportunity:

  • A minimum of 4 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent
  • Solid academic performance, specifically in Spanish coursework
  • Coursework in education, especially elementary, ESL or Spanish
  • A major or minor in education is preferred, but not required
  • Work experience with children, especially teaching
  • Skills in leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Responsibility and dedication
