| Active Minds "Stomp Out Stigma" Run, April 27, 2007 |

| Bill Newton, Assistant Director of Campus Activities, always wanted to organize his own race. Elaine Zamojski wanted to help raise awareness of mental health problems, especially among college students. Dr. Tim Osberg wanted to help the Mental Health Association in Niagara County in its efforts to educate the public about mental health issues. Thus, the first annual Stomp Out Stigma Run/Walk was born. In collaboration with the Active Minds on Campus chapter at NU and numerous sponsors such as the NU 150th Anniversary Committee, Bill, Elaine and Tim organized a hugely successful run to benefit the MHA in which nearly 250 runners and walkers took part. The proceeds of the race ($2000!) were presented to the MHA at its annual luncheon three weeks later. Thanks to all of our race volunteers, especially the members of Active Minds! |
