Terri Filips Vaughan
Associate Professor, Dance, and Choreographer
Terri has choreographed over 30 musicals and 19 concert works at Niagara University. She graduated summa cum laude with an MFA in Dance from the Texas Woman’s University and cum laude with a BA from Hope College. Terri has worked as a freelance teacher, choreographer and theatre director for numerous schools, community groups, studios and professional companies. She was the co-founder of InSync Dance Theatre, a professional tap and jazz company based in Michigan, for which she has choreographed and performed. She has choreographed professionally, working at such places as Artpark: South Pacific staring Tony-Award winner Mark Jacoby; and Shakespeare in Delaware Park: Fame, The Tempest and The Comedy of Errors. She has also choreographed shows for Hope Summer Repertory Theatre and has set choreography at SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Fredonia, and Hope College. Terri was awarded Hope College’s Mary Van Tamelen Prize for Creativity. She wrote, directed and choreographed her own children’s play, Goldilocks, the True Tails, with the support of a Niagara University summer grant. The past three summers, she directed NU Theatre’s family theatre productions. She also regularly presents at the National Dance Education Organization’s annual conferences.
