Bio
Dr. Brian Bennett is chair and associate professor of Religious Studies. His courses include Introduction to Religion and World Religions.
A native of California, Bennett earned his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Princeton and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He has taught at Niagara since 2001.
Bennett is a comparativist whose research explores the interconnections between language and religion. He has studied – with varying degrees of success – Latin, Greek, Russian, Old Church Slavonic, Pali, Arabic, French, German and Esperanto.
Bennett has presented papers at international conferences in Ireland, Holland, Austria, Russia and Portugal. He has published a book, Religion and Language in Post-Soviet Russia (Routledge).
