Dr. Brian Bennett is Professor of Religious Studies and currently chair of the department.

His courses include

A native of California, Bennett earned his B.A. summa cum laude from Princeton and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He has taught at Niagara since 2001. Bennett is a comparativist whose research focuses on sacred languages. He has given presentations at international conferences in Amsterdam, Moscow, Berlin, Vienna, and Lisbon. His book, Religion and Language in Post-Soviet Russia (Routledge), examines the revival of Church Slavonic after Communism.
