Sheila L. Hausrath joined Niagara University as assistant vice president for student life in 1988 and was named vice president five years later, becoming the first woman and the first non-Vincentian priest to hold the position. A native of Syracuse, she received her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in student personnel administration from the State University College at Buffalo. She was employed at the college from 1972 to 1981, serving for a time as director of residence life. Prior to joining Niagara, she served as senior executive assistant to former Erie County Executive Edward Rutkowski.
