Linus Ormsby joined Niagara University in 1984 after a 20-year career at the Niagara Gazette, where he filled a variety of editorial department positions, including city editor, news editor and editorial page editor. The Niagara Falls native joined the newspaper after graduating from Canisius College with a bachelor of arts degree in English. While writing for the newspaper, he received several journalism awards, including a first place in the depth-reporting category from the New York State Associated Press. He also received the American Cancer Society’s New York State Media Award for editorial writing.
At Niagara, his work in communications and advertising has been cited by professional organizations on numerous occasions. Notable among them is a Platinum Award in the Excalibur Awards competition sponsored by the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, of which he is a past president.
Ormsby holds a master’s degree in education and an advanced certificate in school counseling from Niagara University. He also holds professional accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America.
