Outside Private Scholarships
Outside private scholarships are a great source for supplementing the cost of higher education. Listed below are just a few of the many outside private scholarships available to students. The scholarships listed are ones that Niagara University’s Financial Aid Office has been made aware of. General Scholarships

Major-Specific Scholarships
Eligibility:
- Must be elected to membership in Kappa Gamma Pi

- List honors, awards and dates (e.g. Church council 2007; Community Award, May 2010)
- Describe in 200 words or less your volunteer work and leadership experience (do not exceed limit).
- Write a brief statement of 200 words or less describing your career aspirations and personal goals.
- Describe specifically in 200 words or less your financial situation.
- Submit a copy of the official letter of acceptance from graduate or professional school.
- Supply two signed Letters of Recommendation on official letterhead from individuals who can write about how your life reflects the KGP motto of faith and service. This may include comments on volunteer work, leadership experience, and/or personal goals. Letters may be enclosed with application or sent under separate cover.

Scholarships with Special Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university at a junior, senior or graduate level
- Current college student seeking a major in social work, psychology or other mental health related field
- Native of Western New York
- Has an immediate relative or spouse who is/was a veteran
- Shows a unique blend academic achievement and community service
- GPA: 3.0 or higher
- Must not be eligible to receive financial support from a transfer of post-9/11 GI-Bill benefits to dependents (TEB) Community service, involvement in school or church activities
Must submit the following:
- Completed application
- Proof of relation to a veteran (ex: DD214 or 1 other proof of veteran/military status)and birth certificate
- College transcript
- 300 word essay describing what has inspired your interest in helping our service members with their mental health issues.
- Letter of professional recommendation
- Must be over 18 years of age

Women's Scholarships
Eligibility:
● Non-traditional female student pursuing a higher education with ties to Niagara County.
● Must reside in Niagara County; women who have used the services of the YWCA of Niagara will be given preference.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- This is not a scholarship for high school seniors. This scholarship is directed to adult women, residing in Erie or Niagara County, who are in college or are returning to college in order to seek an undergraduate or graduate degree for career advancement.
- Must demonstrate need for financial assistance.
- Must be able to show proof of acceptance by an accredited college/school.
- Each application must be accompanied by a 150 word maximum essay stating future goals as outlined in application.
- A transcript of school records must accompany the application.
- The applicant is responsible for the submission of the two reference forms supplied being sent to the Scholarship Chair and postmarked no later than April 16, 2012.
- Applicant should be prepared for a personal interview with the Scholarship Committee. Qualified applicants will be notified by mail of the date and time of their interview. The actual awards will be presented at the Scholarship dinner meeting on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Pane’s Restaurant, 984 Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda.
- This scholarship is for students with financial need, to be used for tuition only. The checks will be issued to the college/school directly. If tuition has been met for the present semester, the award will be put toward the student’s account for the following semester tuition. All applicants to be judged upon merit and need alone. All applicants will compete at the same level
- All requirements must be met or application will be disqualified.
