Niagara University proudly announces the
Accreditation of the Department of Nursing by the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
CCNE is the premiere accreditation body for collegiate nursing programs and has granted Niagara's BS completion Nursing program the full accreditation for the maximum five-year period.
2008 Nurse of Distinction Winner
Dr. Frances Stevralia Crosby, Chairperson of the Nursing Department at Niagara University has been named the 2008 Nurse of Distinction by the Buffalo News. Each year, Western New York's health care providers salute registered nurses for their contribution to the profession and to the communities they serve. Dr. Crosby has an extensive and distinguished career as a nurse educator, researcher and leader. Professionalism has always been a hallmark throughout her nursing career where she has continually strived to promote and uphold the professional role of the nurse.

The Department of Nursing Celebrates their Nursing Students and
Recent Graduates

In conjunction with National Nurses' Recognition Week, Niagara University's Department of Nursing hosted a Mass and Pinning Ceremony for its students and guests. Four new graduates received a gold Niagara Nursing pin from Dr. Frances Crosby, chairperson of the Nursing Department. The event took place on Friday, May 2, 2008 beginning with Mass at 12:15 pm in Alumni Chapel followed by a luncheon for students and invited guests on the Fourth floor of St. Vincent's Hall. The University community was invited to participate in the celebration of this special Mass marking this event as the 2nd Annual Nurses Recognition Ceremony. Scholarships were awarded to many of the returning nursing students which will be applied to their summer or fall courses.

Nursing Appreciation Week: Nursing Cohort at the Luncheon

Ann Marie MacIsaac, Nursing faculty member (on the right) congratulates Wanda Tyson on being the recipient of the
William Schultz Esq. Parish Nurse Scholarship.
Wanda was also recognized as the Outstanding Graduate from the Department of Nursing at the Arts and Sciences Day of Recognition. She was recognized and commended for her dedication to the nursing profession in the highly specialized field of oncology nursing.
Many scholarships were awarded to returning students which will be applied to their summer or fall courses.

BS Nursing Completion Program Approved - June 2006
We have received official notification that our BS Nursing completion program has received NYS Department of Education approval. We are delighted to be “open for business” to begin educating nurses in the Niagara tradition. Classes will begin in Fall 2006 semester. We are ready and anxious to begin processing applicants.
