NU English Department Presents Shakespeare Conference

To go or not to go, that is the question...

Niagara University’s English department is pleased to present a mini-conference featuring papers from students in Dr. Philip Collington’s senior seminar English class on William Shakespeare's romantic comedies. The free event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at 5:30 p.m. in the Dunleavy Hall auditorium on NU’s campus.

The guest speaker will be Sarah Gutman, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Buffalo.

Scheduled student presenters from Niagara University include:

  • Kara Connors, ’12, on fathers and daughters in Taming of the Shrew and Much Ado About Nothing
  • Leslie Makowski, ’12, on mythological figures in Romeo and Juliet and Much Ado About Nothing
  • Chelsea Hewitt, ’12, on interpreting Helena’s transgressions in All’s Well that Ends Well
  • Gina Puntoriero, ’12, on the revelation vs. transformation of character in Twelfth Night
  • Will Victor, ’12, on Christian intolerance and anti-Semitism in The Merchant of Venice
