The Niagara University Athletics Department recently partnered with the Niagara County Thank-A-Vet Program, which thanks the brave veterans of the United States military by giving them special discounts.

Local veterans who are enrolled in the Thank-A-Vet Program are now able to obtain two tickets for a 2011-2012 Niagara basketball or hockey game for the price of one ticket.

"Partnering with the Thank-A-Vet Program is a small way to show our appreciation for the men and women who defend our freedom," said Ed McLaughlin, Niagara University's athletics director. "Their selflessness and bravery are remarkable and we hope many local veterans take advantage of seeing games on our campus."

The Niagara County Thank-A-Vet Program encourages local veterans to file their discharge papers with local government for safekeeping. To further entice discharged local members of the military, the program offers a discount card, with offers to over 60 different companies and merchants, including Dunn Tire and the Hard Rock Cafe - Niagara Falls.
