Niagara University will officially welcome the newest members of its community to Monteagle Ridge during the university’s annual New Student Convocation ceremony on Friday, August 27, 2010, at 4 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.

Instituted in 2003, the New Student Convocation is a one hour event that features remarks by Rev. Joseph Levesque, C.M., president of Niagara University, a welcome from a faculty member, an alumni greeting, and a recitation of the "NU Creed" lead by the student body president.

The event itself is designed as a complement to the commencement ceremonies that graduating students experience at the conclusion of their college careers. Like graduation, it will include faculty from each academic department, a procession and recession of the students, along with a host of other academic and administrative members.

Additionally, the New Student Convocation is an opportunity for students to develop a true connection to the university and a chance to connect with other new members of the Niagara University community. For parents, it provides an opportunity to share in an important transition in the lives of their sons or daughters.

All new students are expected to attend the New Student Convocation.
