Many Winters Ago...Native Amerian Children's Book Illustrations

The exhibition includes works by several of the leading Native American Children’s book illustrators from across the United States and Canada. Bringing to life themes of cultural tradition, family life and respect for nature, these award-winning artists reflect bold and dynamic visual trends in today’s children’s book illustrations. In addition to the visually compelling illustrations, creative art activities for children bring the exhibition’s themes to life. Documentaries featuring Native American artists and stories will be screened in an adjacent gallery.
The Castellani Art Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Admission is always free. For more information, please call 716-286-8200.

Max Streicher: inflatables

Canadian artist Max Streicher will be featured in the central gallery of the Castellani Art Museum from October 3, 2008 to March 1, 2009. This exhibition will feature a colossal sculpture of an inflated cockroach and wallarts (photograms) based on Franz Kafka\'s book, Metamorphosis.
