Education That Makes a Difference

Model Majors

Model Majors are established multi-disciplinary majors within the Liberal Arts Program. Each one involves study in two or three specific disciplines within the College of Arts & Sciences. The program currently offers programs in Applied Fine Arts, Art History, Gerontology, Multicultural Studies, Romance Languages, and Writing Studies, with others under development.

For more information on each of these specific programs, see the relevant entries in this catalogue. In addition to coursework, students pursuing a Model Major are required to prepare a Liberal Arts Program Proposal. For more information on this proposal and its component parts, consult the Liberal Arts Program Web site. Each of the model majors offer an alternative to the individually designed programs.  While they do require the liberal arts proposal, they offer a pre-designed framework upon which the major can be built.
